2D or 2-dimensional ultrasound is the  standard imaging technique component of a prenatal care. It is a non-invasive and painless procedure which will provide a black and white picture in order to evaluate the fetus' overall development, scan for possible complications, and perform other prenatal tests/procedures. It is also used to examine and investigate abnormal masses/tissue growths or tumors.
